Punny Valentine

Hello Peeps!  What a busy week it has been!  The weather has finally started to feel like winter and we got SNOW!.  Not much, but I will take what I can get.  With the New Year upon us, why not look ahead to Valentine's Day and Valentine's cards?  That is exactly what I did with today's Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS.  Sabrina is being featured today and she has a full gallery of fun, quirky diverse cards.  The card I chose for inspiration has a dog on it and lots of polka dots.  This is my interpretation of her card-

I paper pieced this dog image from Unity and stamped my banner with dots.  I fussy cut the red chevrons out of an embossed panel.  I really must get some chevron dies!  The sentiment is computer generated.  I used Crystal Effects to give this pooch a wet nose!  The ears, dog tag, and tail are popped up on dimensionals. This will be a Valentine card for my son-notice there is no pink and no hearts on this card? ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and have a wonderful and Blessed New Year!

Merry Christmas!

Luke 2:8-12- And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were afraid.  But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign to you:  You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger."

Wishing you a Blessed Christmas!

Simple Thanks

Wahoo!  It is Christmas break!  Time to enjoy the holidays and recharge for the new year.  We had snow flurries yesterday, but nothing stuck.  I am hoping for snow.  I know many of you would rather the weather stay warm and precipitation free!  Which category do you fall into?  Either way, today is the first day of winter and the official start to the Christmas holiday for me.  To celebrate, I played in the Free for All challenge at SCS and got my card done early for a change.
Today's challenge is to make a simple Thank You card-one we would be willing to reproduce.  Well, I don't like to reproduce any cards-I like the creative process.  This card had to be really easy to want to reproduce it.

This was easy peasy; I stamped the Everything Eleanor image on Naturals Ivory in Craft Black ink.  I punched the circular image from the Festival of Prints dsp Stack and adhered it (with a dimensional) to the center of the stamped image.  The Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment is stamped in black.  I scored around the Naturals Ivory panel and then layered on another dsp from the Festival of Prints pack.  The card base is Naturals Ivory.
This card was so easy I may actually reproduce it! I need several cards for students who gave me Christmas gifts.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Blessings,

Lee Ann  :)

A Snowy Sketch

Hello All!  I had more time to play this evening, so I was able to participate in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the Paper Players challenge.

This is my cas snowflake card using the FMS sketch-

This came together fairly easily, once I decided on the stamp to use.  The image is stamped in Early Espresso and then stamped again in Versamark and embossed in pewter ep.  I then die cut the embossed snowflake out and popped it up on a dimensional and layered it on the original image.
My new favorite color combo is Whisper White and Very Vanilla.  I have always used one or the other until recently, and now love the look of the two together.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and have a blessed week!

A Bluebird CASE

Hello Everyone and a Happy Sunday to you!  Can you believe it is less than 2 weeks 'til Christmas?  I know I have not completed all that I need to.  I will be at the stores this afternoon finding that elusive perfect gift.
Today's SCS Featured Stamper is Gail, and she has a beautiful gallery and does some beautiful coloring.  I cased one of her lovely cards in white with a bird image on it.  Here is my take on her card.
This was supposed to be a quick card for me, but I seemed to have to fight everything this morning-the Spellbinders, the pearls, the photography...so it took alot longer than I anticipated. I do like the end product.  This is the first time inking up this wonderful Stampendous image, Bluebirds.  I stamped it in Stazon Brown and colored it with Stampin' Up inks and a blender pen.  The card base is 5x5 and matted with Soft Sky cs embossed with the Tweets and twigs mbossibility folder.  The bird image is cut with an oval Spellbinder and sponged around the edge while still in the frame with Soft Sky ink.  The image is mounted on a Labels One die cut.  I embellished with a flourish from Venetian Motifs and flowers made from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack from SU.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and have a blessed week before Christmas!

A Sketch and Pastels

Hello Everyone!  I hurried home from work today to squeeze in some stamping time.  The sketch at SCS is a nice basic sketch today-

Here is my take on this sketch-

I got it in my brain that  I wanted to do a soft, pastel Christmas card, but with a bit of whimsy.  I chose this adorable reindeer image and watercolored him.  The background mat is embossed with white holly leaves and pink berries.  I forgot to cut my image panel down to size before I glued everything down (Oops!), so I had to trim the corners off after the card was completed (including the wet stickles!). Thus, the panel overlaps the blue card base, which is not what I had intended to do.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog; you are a blessing!

Another Go at CAS Cards

Please excuse the mess!  Blog under construction.

Today's CAS challenge at SCS was based on a piece of fabric-a lovely floral in grays, mustard yellow, white and red.  Here is my take on that challenge-

I feel I am still working out some "kinks" with the cas (clean and simple) style.  The more I look at this card though, the more it grows on me.  I stamped the flowers on Whisper White CS and fussy cut them.  The Swirl is stamped in Basic Gray and the florals adhered to the panel, with one of them popped up on dimensionals. The flower centers were watercolored with Cherry Cobbler ink; I added pearls colored with a Copic marker to one flower center.  The panel was machine stitched and popped up on dimensionals.
Thanks so much for stopping by my corner of blogland.
Blessings to you!

ODBD Sketch Challenge

Please excuse the mess; blog under construction!

I had a little time to craft this afternoon, after trying to catch up on all of the things I have been neglecting.  I finally have the Christmas tree up and most of the decorating done.  Time to squeeze in a little stamping!
I love the Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and one of their newest ones, Baby Jesus, is no exception. I used the image for this week's sketch challenge-

I really like how this turned out-it is so simple yet speaks volumes about the true meaning of Christmas.  I need that reminder sometimes.  I used My Mind's Eye 'Sunshine" dp and Cosmo Cricket dp along with Very Vanilla and Early Espresso Stampin' Up CS.  The image and sentiment are stamped in Early Espresso and the edges are sponged with Van Dyke brown ink.  You can't really see it in the photo, but the dp that the image is matted on has rays coming from it so gives the appearance of Baby Jesus radiating light.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Natural Noel

First of all, please excuse this mess of a blog!  I am trying to make changes, but they don't come easily given my lack of computer prowess.  Hopefully it will be much improved by the weekend!
Today's color challenge at SCS is Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso.  I substituted Baja Breeze for the Marina Mist as I do not have that color.

I used Stampin' Up's retired Peaceful Wishes for this, stamping the pine cones in Early Espresso and fussy cutting them out.  The berries are in Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler-the stamp was colored with SU markers, then stamped on Naturals Ivory.  They were also fussy cut out.  The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and Cherry cobbler, heat embossed with clear ep on Naturals Ivory paper and fussy cut.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Quilted Christmas

I needed a card for Tuesday's Card Club so I decided to case my own card-this one.  I really wanted to use my new single stamp, Merry Christmas and I thought this layout would work well.  This is also a good way to use up scraps.

This was just not the day where things go smoothly; I debossed instead of embossed my quilt, I used Chocolate Chip ink instead of Early Espresso ink and I put my fingers in the Dazzling Details.  Not to mention instead of adhering panels, I glued my card shut!  Ever have one of those days??  Anyway, I think the girls will like it.  I do think I need an Early Espresso mat behind the snowflake, so will have to add that.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog.  Have a blessed week!

Blue Christmas

Hello All!  I hope you are enjoying your Sunday, this first Sunday of Advent.  I have a Christmas card for you that is for the Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS as well as the ODBD challenge, which is to include an ornament or something hanging on our cards. I used a new stamp that I have been playing with and it has multiple ornaments on it.

My card is 5x5.  I stamped my image in Versamark on Baja Breeze paper and embossed it in white.  I cut it out with a Spellbinder and then matted it on a Whisper White Top Note die cut.  I added pearls and rhinestones to all of the baubles on the tree.  The pearls that were white I colored with a Copic marker.  The sentiment is cut out with my favorite new little die, the Vintage Oval from Verve.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Inspired By Cracked Glass

It is Friday night and surprisingly I am still awake.  I decided to get a jump start on Saturday's Inspiration Challenge at SCS.  This card came together very quickly compared to some of the time consuming, lack of mojo, cards lately.

I love how this turned out.  Here is my inspiration piece-

I stamped a piece of Whisper White CS in Black Craft ink with the Sanded Background stamp and then clear embossed it.  I sponged Pool Party and then Island indigo at the bottom, So Saffron and More Mustard in the middle and then Cajun Craze at the top.  The panel is mounted on Basic Black CS and has a narrow band of black CS with the sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set stamped in Black craft, clear embossed and then sponged with So Saffron and More Mustard layered on top.
All products are Stampin Up.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed weekend!

CAS Veggie!

Happy Friday and Happy Last Day of November!
It is hard to believe that the Christmas Season is upon us; I have been making Christmas cards for so many months now that it felt like it would never come.  But here we are on the eve of December 1st and the weekend at that!  It was a rough week at work for me-can you say head lice??  Yes, I am the school nurse and the name of the game this week was bugs.  So I am thrilled that it is the end of the week and am happy to play in SCS's Free For All Challenge today, which is to use fruits or veggies.

I just love this happy beet!  Nothing complicated here-  I used the out of the box technique with my beet greens, scored around the white mat and scored along the bottom of the card.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and have a fabulous, blessed weekend!

Cool Poppy

Hello Everyone!  I have a card for you tonight that is for the sketch challenge at SCS this week.  I am actually getting a little burned out on Christmas cards, so decided to do a generic floral.

This card is pretty straight forward. I just received the Poppy image from ODBD and could not wait to try it out. The poppy is stamped in Stazon Black and watercolored with the aquapainter.  I used a Versamark marker to apply ink to portions of the flower center and then heat embossed it with black ep.I distress inked all of the edges with Van Dyke Brown.  I inked up the debossing surface of an embossing folder with the Van Dyke Brown ink and ran it through the Big Shot.  This also gives the paper an aged/distressed look.  The card has a Linen Thread bow with an Always Artichoke colored button to finish off the card.
I hope I have inspired you; thanks so much for stopping by!  You have been a blessing!

Inspirational Stamper

Hello everyone!  I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend-it was beautiful here again in St Louis and I was able to get some much needed yard work done. But that doesn't mean I didn't get to stamp!  This card is for the featured stamper challenge on SCS today.  Allison, the FS, has a wonderful gallery so I cased a couple of her cards.
Here is the first of my cases-

This image is from Sweet n Sassy Stamps and is embossed in black, then watercolored using an aquapainter.  It is fussy cut and then popped up on dimensionals on the smaller circle.

And another case from Allison's gallery-

Inspirational Saturday

Hello All!  I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving and if you were one of the ones out looking for a bargain or two this weekend, I hope you found it!  I found all of my online at some of my favorite crafting sites :).
Today's Inspiration Challenge at SCS is an interesting site called Gelaskins.  I am not posting a picture of my inspiration piece so as not to upset any artist, but here is a link to the inspiration I chose.
And here is my card, based on the inspiration-

I used the "kissing" technique for  my stamped images (except the sentiment).  I inked up by Canvas background stamp and then stamped the leaf stamp onto the background stamp, to transfer the canvas print to the leaf.  I then stamped my leaf onto my paper.  For the roses, I inked up the canvas background and just stamped the paper and then die cut my roses from that stamped paper.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and have a wonderful weekend!

 Saturday, 5:45pm
I have not participating in too many challenges lately, due in part to lack of time but also lack of MOJO.  Thankfully, I have found at least some MOJO, in part due to one of my favorite new products, masks.  I used the Aspen Trees mask for this card which is for CAS(E)  this Sketch challenge.  It is also for the Addicted to Cas challenge, with the theme being "snow".

Here is my take on these 2 challenges-

I find Basic Black and River Rock to be a fabulous color combo; I think it works great on this card, giving a cas, mostly black and white card a touch of elegance.  The trees are done using the Aspen Tree mask and Mister Huey's Calico White spray.  I have scored above and below the center embossed band to define it more.  The sentiment (popped up on dimensionals) is a new one from Verve and is heat embossed in silver, although you cannot tell that in the picture.  As usual, I just cannot capture metallic on "film".  I wonder if there is a photography class specifically for photographing cards?? ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog; hoping you have a blessed weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a quick post this evening as I wait for the "bird" to cook.  Yes, we are eating late as I decided to spend some time at Missouri Botanical Gardens this afternoon.

It was a glorious way to spend the afternoon-enjoying all God's creatures and creation instead of worrying about food, cleaning and sales!
So I have made one card while waiting for this turkey; it is for today's Way to Use it Challenge at SCS-black and white with a splash of 1 color-

I crafted a snowy winter's night with my Aspen mask from Crafter's Workshop; The "snow" is misted on with Mister Hueys Calico white ink.  The Real Red, Basic Black, and Whisper White Paper is Stampin' Up; the Stamps are from Verve-Glad Tidings. The sentiment is cut out with Verve's Mini Vintage Oval die.  The snowflakes are also cut out with Verve's matching snowflake dies.

Thanks so much for stopping by, especially on this day of Thanksgiving!

Blessings, Lee Ann  :)

Wanted: MOJO

I seem to have misplaced my MOJO.  Have you seen it?  And while you are at it, if you see any creative bones out there, let me know because I don't seem to have a creative bone left in my body!
As this is the week of Thanksgiving, it seems a good time to ponder things I am thankful for.  I am thankful for my son and our home-that we even have a home and that I have been blessed with a good job. I am thankful that God loves me even though I do such a lousy job of loving Him.  I am thankful that he has faith in me even though I usually rely on me rather than Him. I am thankful that He has given us the ability to be creative.  And I am thankful for this community of crafters/stampers in blogland and at SCS; who knew we could have so much fun sharing with people hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles away?!
Now on to stamps!  The Shining the Light Challenge at ODBD this week is to use silver or gold on our card.  Sounded easy enough, but without MOJO, not so!!

Edit-11/18/12-5:50pm
I have been having a rough time getting good pictures of cards lately, so I was playing with the settings on my camera to see if I could brighten up the photos.  Here is a retake of the one above-it may be too bright!  At this point my eyes are so blurry from looking at pictures I don't know what looks good and what does not!

I wanted to make an easily mailable card, so that meant it would be flat.  I seem to be gravitating to nature lately, enjoying all of the beauty that God has for us, so I chose pine branches to frame my scripture verse.  My background is embossed in silver and my pine branches are glittered with silver Stickles, but it really is not showing up in the photo.  The scripture verse is stamped in Bravo Burgundy craft and clear embossed.  Though simple, I still like how his turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Enjoy this week of Thanksgiving and the official start of the Christmas Season!

China Pattern

Hello All!
It is a beautiful Saturday here and I had an enjoyable morning taking a class with a friend at a local scrapbook store.  It is always a good time when you get a bunch of paper crafting women together!
Today's Inspiration Challenge at SCS uses a site called Fishs Eddy-strange name, I know!  They do have some cool stuff though, despite their strange name. I have a thing for kitchen stuffs and china.  This vintage restaurant plate caught my eye and gave me my inspiration-

Here is my cas take on this challenge-

This was a simple card to make, but hard to photograph; it may be the person behind the camera as I could not photograph the card I made last night either!  I simply sponged Regal Rose ink over my Little Leaves die cuts, embossed the sentiment in gold, added a bow and added a couple of curly ques made out of thin strips of gold cs, and curled with a quilling tool.

Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a blessed weekend!

A One-Card Night

Hello everyone!  I am sure some of you are off to bed already, which is where I should be!  I don't know where the time is going; tomorrow is Friday and then next week it is a two day work week for me.  Yippee!  That means alot of extra time to stamp (and eat turkey)!
I only had time for one card tonight, so I played along with the Ways to Use It challenge at SCS, which was to use birds on our card.  That was easy enough!

This is a Northwoods image and is stamped in Black Stazon ink on Naturals White cs from SU.  I colored the birds and their home with an aquapainter and SU reinkers.  The sentiment is Verve from the Glad Tidings set and is on a die cut from the Mini Vintage Ovals die.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog; have a blessed Friday!

Flourished Daffodils

Hello, everyone!  I was able to get some stamp time in this evening, and decided to play along with the Flourishes November challenge-

I chose daffodils for my image, yellow as my monochromatic color, Stampin' Up dsp for my patterned paper and some rhinestone bling to finish it off.

This layout was actually very fun to work with, even though initially I was unsure of it.  I used my Mini Vintage Ovals from Verve for the first time and I think they worked wonderfully on this card. The daffodils were watercolored with an aquapainter and fussy cut out.
Thanks so much for stopping by during this busy week before Thanksgiving.

Blessings!

Colorful Sunday

Happy Sunday to Everyone!  I have a quick post this morning before I get on to other things-sadly, housework.  This is for this week's Color Throwdown 217.

These are some fabulous colors!  Here is my take on the challenge-

I have not used my set, Everything Eleanor too much, so I thought I would play with that.  I went with a white flower and the Lucky Limeade was perfect for the greenery.  I love the framing affect when using the Framelit Window dies and made mine in Night of Navy.  I hope I have inspired you!

Well, so much for housework!!  I couldn't let the weekend get away from me without playing the Featured Stamper challenge at SCS today.  Today's featured stamper has a wonderful gallery and I chose this card to case.  I really enjoy making frames for my images and this card is no exception.  I like how Patty used a die cut as the main focal point in the frame.
This is my take on her card-

Instead of using a die cut as the focal point in the frame, I used a masked image. I ended up blending two colors on the mask as I started out using Buckaroo Blue but quickly realized that the sponge I grabbed had brown on it.  The white frame and sentiment panel are both embossed with the wood grain ef and popped up on dimensionals.  I applied Dazzling Details to the berries, although you really can't see it in the photo and distress Stickles to the pine cone.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

Fresh Blues

Hello, Everyone!  I have been having a crafty, fun day with a good friend.  She is making some amazing Christmas cards out of motorcycle sketches that her brother in Japan has drawn.

I have had fun doing the shaving cream technique again with visions of using my new penguin stamp with the background.  I used the Freshly Made Sketches #60 for the layout.

Here is another picture, as taking a picture of the silver embossing powder is so difficult.  This picture highlights the embossed features of the card, although you cannot see the silver heat embossing well.

Thanks so much for stopping by; time to get back to crafting with my friend!

Country Christmas and MOJO

Good Morning, All!  It is a glorious morning today, and sounds like it is sizing up to be a beautiful weekend here.

I wanted to share with you a project I did with my brand new set from Verve.  Now mind you, I never win anything!  So I was so excited to win the exact newly released set that I was eyeing.

This is for this week's MOJO Monday sketch challenge 266. What a gret sketch, and perfect for this fabulous country style (or maybe primitive) wreath.  I thought I would try some non-traditional colors, so scrounnged through my Christmas dsp and this is what I came up with.  I used my new MFT circle dies to cut these absolutely perfect circles.  The wreath is colored with Stampin' Up inks and a blender pen.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed weekend!

Shabby Autumn?

It is late Thursday night, and I am adding my second post for the day, having tried my hand at "Shabby Chic" style.  I admire those who create such beautiful shabby chic work; I think it must come natural to them.  I decided to give The Shabby Tea Room Challenge a whirl.

Isn't this just a beautiful picture?  The colors and textures just seemed to call my name.  I really like the shutters, the dark gray autumn sign and the metal tub.

Here is my take on this inspiration photo-

So now I am calling on all shabby chic experts to help me know what is  or isn't shabby chic about this card.  All suggestions are welcome!  As you can see by my clean and simple post from earlier this evening, I try my hand at a wide variety of styles.  I have yet to figure out what "my style" is.  I wish someone would just tell me! :)
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog-I so appreciate your visit and any comments.  Have a blessed weekend.  For those on the East Coast, know that I am praying for you after this last round of bad weather.

These stamps are from the Winter Penguin set from PTI; the images are just pure fun to play with!  This card is for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge

This card is actually 2 layers-white on white- and the main panel from the sketch is scored on my card.  The sentiment flake is popped up on dimensionals.
